Mississippi Studios Show and A Musical Excursion

Pond in Longbeach

We are bouncin’ on our toes with excitement for our next show at Mississippi Studios! It bears the come-hither title of “Ladiez Night” and promises to be a mighty display of formidable and fantastic female talent in Portland. We are thrilled to open up for Sallie Ford, Luz Elena Mendoza (Y La Bamba) and our sometimes-touring-buddy, Rebecca Gates. This line-up is presented by Elizabeth Elder and Rachel Milbauer of the PDX music podcast “Party Boyz.” Kill Rock Stars and She Shreds will be in attendance, and a portion of each ticket is slated to benefit the Rock’n’Roll Camp for Girls. The Party begins at 8 PM on Friday, March 7th and costs 15 bones at the door.

If you’ve never seen us play live, you can read a write-up of our last show (which was ridiculously fun) HERE.

In other news, we spent Super Bowl Sunday overlooking the ocean and watching drunken Seahawk fans clad in jerseys dance to our newest 12/8 rocker, Samurai! It was pretty righteous. And so was The Adrift Hotel in Long Beach where we had our weekend residency. The above photo was taken in this coastal town full of buoys, run-a-away artists and beach bikes on one of our Band Runs. (One of the ways we keep it together on the road besides chips and cocktails.)

But the highlight of our winter tour with the musical luminary Lara Michell was our show in Astoria at The VooDoo Room. We should have known from the magic parking spot that it would be like playing in an alternate reality. In a room full of kind strangers under the spell of the best bartender I’ve ever met, (Josh you Rock!), our friends from Blind Pilot, Typhoon, and Wild Ones suddenly materialized!! It was a little slice of home surrounded by skulls and beads and a giant ouija board pub table. We were bewitched and glad for it.

Coming sooooooooooon: news on our upcoming album which is gaining new levels and a new life this month at Mix Foundry under the wizardry of John Askew. ALSO: dates for our uncoming tour to Europe and the UK!
