Things are starting to get busy for us here in Portland as we put the finishing touches on the mixes for our new record. As we’ve mentioned before, the wonderful John Askew has been at the engineering helm throughout the mixing process and we are the better for it. We’re fans of his work with Neko Case, First Aid Kit, Richmond Fontaine, Alela Diane and Peggy Sue among many others. There is no doubt that he is bringing a sense of dimensionality and perspective to the record. The above picture is of us listening to playback of some of his mix magic in his studio, Scenic Burrows…
Our first tour in Europe is going to be whirlwind! We’re excited and feel incredibly fortunate that Portland filmmaker Scott Ballard will be coming along with us to shoot footage of the whole tour. Scott has risen to the forefront of the emerging Portland film scene. His work on How The Fire Fell, Welcoming Departure, and A Standing Still has earned him a reputation in international film circles. We have dates planned in the Netherlands, Germany, France, and England, with some more potentially in Spain. Here is what is happening as it stands now:
